Ford Escape workshop manuals
Ford Escape at a glance: 17 manuals, covering 2001 to 2010 models, with engines from 2.0 to 3.0 litres.
About the Escape
Launched for 2001, the Escape was Ford's first SUV built on a car platform rather than a truck frame. It was developed with Mazda on the CD2 platform alongside the Mazda Tribute, with a Mercury Mariner version added later, and Europe got it as the Ford Maverick. A car-like unibody with independent suspension made it a rival to the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, and for 2005 it became the first hybrid SUV sold in the United States.
What these manuals cover
- 2001–2004: the 2.0-litre Zetec four and the 3.0-litre Duratec V6.
- 2005: a 2.3-litre Duratec four replaced the 2.0. The V6 continued.
- 2008–2010 (second generation): restyled on the same platform, with the 2.5-litre four replacing the 2.3 for 2009.
Tip: the Mazda Tribute and Mercury Mariner are the same vehicle underneath, so their manuals for the same engine and year are a good second reference.
