Fluid Cooler - Power Steering - Remove And Install (13 444 0)

Removal and Installation

Special Tools

13-015 Expander, Teflon seal

Remove

CAUTION:

Disconnect the battery negative lead.

1. Remove the crossmember and radiator grilles.

1. Remove the six crossmember grille retaining screws.

2. Remove the two remaining radiator grille retaining screws.

2. Disconnect the fluid cooler hose from the power steering fluid reservoir.

Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

3. Disconnect the power steering gear pipes from the clamp (one screw).

Vehicles with TRW steering gear

4. Remove the pipe clamp plate bolt and disconnect the fluid cooler pipe from the steering gear valve body.

Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

Vehicles with Wuelfrath steering gear

5. Disconnect the fluid cooler pipe unions from the steering gear valve body.

• Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

All vehicles

6. Remove the fluid cooler (two bolts).

Install

7. When necessary, renew the union sealing rings.

8. Refit the components in reverse order.

9. Bleed the power steering system (refer to Operation Number 13 416 1).
