Power Steering Bleeding: Service and Repair
External Vacuum Method
1. Raise vehicle until tires are clear of the floor.
2. Remove the power steering pump reservoir cap.
3. Tightly insert the rubber stopper of the air evacuator assembly into the power steering pump reservoir. Connect tubing, vacuum hose and tester to
the stopper.
4. Start vehicle.
5. Use Vacuum Tester 014-R1050 or equivalent to apply 68-85 kPa (20-25 in. Hg) for minimum of three minutes at idle.
6. Release the vacuum and remove the vacuum tester.
7. Check the power steering fluid level. Add fluid to the power steering reservoir if the level is below the full (F) mark.
8. Reinstall Vacuum Tester and apply 68-85 kPa (20-25 in. Hg) vacuum.
