1.
Install a new seal and O-ring using a suitable seal and Teflon ring expander installer.
2.
Install rack into steering gear.
3.
Insert retaining wire through slot and into bushing hole, Fig. 8.
4.
Install retaining wire using outer box torque adapter tool No. T88C-3504-CH.
5.
If valve housing, steering gear housing or pinion and control valve assembly has been replaced, perform valve housing adjustment procedure as
outlined under ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES/VALVE HOUSING in this section.
6.
Insert pinion and control valve assembly into valve housing, ensuring that it seats properly.
7.
Install a new O-ring.
8.
Install valve housing, pinion and control valve assembly into steering gear and tighten to specifications.
9.
Install bearing using pinion seal/torque adapter tool No. T88C-3504-BH or equivalent.
10.
Install seal using same tool, Fig. 9.
11.
Install snap ring, support yoke, spring and yoke plug.
12.
Torque yoke plug to 7.2 ft. lbs. then loosen it.
13.
Torque yoke to 38-48 inch lbs. then loosen it 45°.
14.
Apply sealant to exposed threads of yoke plug.
15.
Install yoke plug locknut and tighten to specifications.
16.
Install tie rods using a suitable pin punch on lockpins.
17.
Install boots, boot wires and clips.
18.
Install left tie rod end and jam nut.
19.
Install fluid lines.
