Disconnect the battery ground cable. | | | -
Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor multiplug. | | | -
Remove the manifold heat shield. | | | -
Disconnect the catalytic converter from the manifold. - Discard the five retaining nuts and any studs that may have been extracted with the nuts.

Detach the catalytic converter support bracket. | | | -
CAUTION:Over-bending or twisting of the flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure. Support the flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint assembly. | | | -
Disconnect the catalytic converter. - Discard the gaskets and nuts.

NOTE:If the catalytic converter is to be refitted, care must be taken not to damage the assembly, excessive force may damage the ceramic substrates. Disconnect the lower support bracket and remove the catalytic converter. | Vehicles built 08/1998 onwards | | -

CAUTION:Over-bending or twisting of the flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure. Support the flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint assembly. | | | -
CAUTION:Make sure the inlet cone is free from any foreign bodies. CAUTION:Never use jointing compound forward of the catalytic converter. Reposition the catalytic converter and loosely refit the lower support bracket. | | | -
Loosely refit the catalytic converter to the exhaust system. - Install new gaskets and nuts.
- Coat the studs with anti-seize grease.

Loosely refit the catalytic converter upper support bracket. | | | -
Refit the catalytic converter to the manifold. Tighten the retaining nuts evenly to initial torque. - Use five new nuts and studs as necessary.

Finally tighten the catalytic converter retaining nuts. | | | -
Tighten the upper support bracket nuts. | | | -
Tighten the catalytic converter flange joint nuts. | Vehicles built up to 08/1998 | | -
Tighten the support bracket. | Vehicles built 08/1998 onwards | | -
Tighten the support bracket. | All vehicles | | -
Remove the flexible pipe support. | | | -
Reconnect the battery ground cable. | |
