Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

  1. Open the battery positive terminal cover.

  1. Disconnect the battery auxiliary positive cable.

  1. Disconnect the battery positive cable.
  1. Remove the starter motor. For additional information, refer to Section  303-06 Starting System.

  1. Remove the generator electrical connector cover.

  1. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

  1. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch electrical connector (oil filter removed for clarity).

  1. Disconnect the ignition coil pack electrical connector (oil filter removed for clarity).
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  1. Remove the battery to starter motor solenoid cable.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. It may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn its adaptive strategy.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
