Diagnosis and Testing

Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

Visual Inspection Chart

  1. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  1. If the cause is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to the Symptom Chart.

PINPOINT TEST A : THE POWER SEAT IS INOPERATIVE

A1: CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE POWER SEAT CONTROL SWITCH

Disconnect Fuse 9 (15A).

Disconnect Power Seat Control Switch C340.

Connect Fuse 9 (15A).

Measure the voltage between the power seat control switch C340 pin 2, circuit 29-AH6 (OG/YE) harness side and ground.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
No
REPAIR circuit 29-AH6 (OG/YE). TEST the system for normal operation.
A2: CHECK CIRCUIT 31-AH6 (BK) FOR CONTINUITY

MEASURE the resistance between the power seat control switch pin 3, circuit 31-AH6A (BK) harness side and ground: and between the power seat control switch pin 6, circuit 31-AH6B (BK) harness side and ground.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
No
REPAIR circuit 31-AH6 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
A3: CHECK THE POWER SEAT HEIGHT ADJUST MOTOR FOR CONTINUITY

MEASURE the resistance between the power seat control switch C340 pin 1, circuit 33S-AH10 (YE/BK) harness side and pin 7, circuit 32S-AH10 (WH/BK) harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
VERIFY the customer concern.
No
A4: CHECK CIRCUIT 33S-AH10 (YE/BK) FOR CONTINUITY

Disconnect Power Seat Height Adjust Motor C341.

MEASURE the resistance between the seat adjust switch connector C 340 pin 1, circuit 33S-AH10 (YE/BK) harness side and the seat adjust motor connector C341 pin 1, circuit 33S-AH10 (YE/BK) harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
No
REPAIR circuit 33S-AH10 (YE/BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
A5: CHECK CIRCUIT 32S-AH10 (WH/BK) FOR CONTINUITY

MEASURE the resistance between the seat adjust switch connector C 340 pin 7, circuit 32S-AH10 (WH/BK) harness side and the seat adjust motor connector C341 pin 1, circuit 32S-AH10 (WH/BK) harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new power seat height adjust motor. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR circuit 32S-AH10 (WH/BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
