Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the audio control unit. For additional information, refer to Section  415-01 Audio Unit.

  1. Detach the heater control panel from the instrument panel.

  1. Remove the heater control panel.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    • Detach the heater control cable.

  1. Remove the ashtray.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  1. Remove the steering column. For additional information, refer to Section  211-04 Steering Column.
  1. Remove the passenger side air bag module. For additional information, refer to Section  501-20A Safety Belt System / 501-20B Supplemental Restraint System.

  1. Remove the gear shift lever knob.

  1. Remove the gearshift lever boot and surround.
  1. Remove the A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to Section  501-05A Interior Trim and Ornamentation / 501-05B Interior Trim and Ornamentation.
  1. Remove the instrument cluster. For additional information, refer to Section  413-01 Instrument Cluster.

  1. Detach the central junction box from the instrument panel.
    1. Remove the cover.
    1. Remove the central junction box screws.

  1. Remove the instrument panel side trim panels (left-hand side shown, right-hand side similar).

  1. Detach the wiring harness from the vehicle body.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Fold the floor covering back to reveal the lower bolts.
    Remove the left-hand side instrument panel retaining bolts.

  1. Remove the right-hand side instrument panel retaining bolts.

  1. Remove the instrument panel upper retaining bolts.

  1. Detach the electrical connector from the cross car beam.
  1. Move the instrument panel rearwards.

  1. Detach the instrument panel wiring harness.
  1. Remove the instrument panel.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
