Removal and Installation

Removal

CAUTION:
CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
  1. Remove the brake master cylinder. For additional information, refer to Section  206-06 Hydraulic Brake Actuation.

  1. Detach the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the wheelhouse assembly.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the brake tubes to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Plug the hydraulic control unit (HCU) ports to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make a note of the position of the brake tubes, to aid installation.
    Remove the brake master cylinder to hydraulic control unit (HCU) brake tubes.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the brake tubes to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Plug the HCU ports to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make a note of the position of the brake tubes, to aid installation.
    Disconnect the brake tubes from the HCU.

  1. Detach the brake tubes from the bulkhead.

  1. Disconnect the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module electrical connector.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the HCU and ABS module support bracket lower retaining bolt.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Remove the HCU and ABS module assembly and the support bracket.

  1. Detach the HCU and ABS module assembly from the support bracket.

  1. Remove the HCU to ABS module retaining bolts.
  1. Remove the ABS module.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Bleed the brake system. For additional information, refer to Section  206-00 Brake System - General Information.
