Engine - 1.3L Duratec-8V (Rocam) - Intake Manifold Fiesta 2002.25 (11/2001-)
In-vehicle Repair

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Section  303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering.

  1. Disconnect the fuel supply and return line quick release couplings. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00 Fuel System - General Information.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle body and position it to one side.
    1. Detach the accelerator outer cable from the throttle body bracket.
    1. Detach the accelerator inner cable from the throttle body lever.

  1. Detach the brake booster vacuum pipe from the intake manifold.

  1. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the intake manifold.
    • Detach the coolant hose from the retaining clip.

  1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector.

  1. Detach the power steering fluid reservoir from the retaining bracket and position it to one side.

  1. Loosen the engine front mount retaining bolt.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the intake manifold lower retaining bolts.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Remove the intake manifold.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new intake manifold gasket if necessary.
    Install the intake manifold.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Install the intake manifold lower retaining bolts (engine shown removed for clarity).
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Tighten the engine front mount retaining bolt.

  1. Attach the power steering fluid reservoir to the retaining bracket.

  1. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector.

  1. Connect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose to the intake manifold.
    • Clip the coolant hose.

  1. Attach the accelerator cable to the throttle body.
    1. Attach the accelerator inner cable to the throttle body lever.
    1. Attach the accelerator outer cable to the throttle body bracket.

  1. Attach the brake booster vacuum pipe to the intake manifold.

  1. Connect the fuel supply and return line quick release couplings. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00 Fuel System - General Information.
  1. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Install the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Section  303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering.
