Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures). | | -
Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4) (303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering, Removal and Installation). | | -
Remove the oil level indicator and oil level indicator tube upper retaining bolt. | | -
Loosen the transaxle upper retaining bolts approximately 10 mm. | | -
Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: (100-02 Jacking and Lifting) Jacking (Description and Operation), Lifting (Description and Operation). | | -
Remove the oil level indicator tube lower retaining bolt. | | -
Remove the engine support insulator. | | -
Drain the engine. - Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.

NOTE:Inspect the oil pan drain plug seal for damage. Install a new drain plug and seal if required. Install the drain plug. | | -
Loosen the transaxle right-hand retaining bolts approximately 10 mm. | | -
Loosen the transaxle left-hand retaining bolts approximately 10 mm. | | -
Remove the engine front cover lower retaining bolts. | | -
Remove the transaxle lower retaining bolts. | | -
Slide back the transaxle approximately 8 mm. | | -
Remove the oil pan retaining bolts. | | -
Using the special tool, remove the oil pan. | Installation | -
Clean the mating faces of the cylinder block, the oil pan and the engine front cover with cleaner. | | -
Apply a 3 mm bead of sealant to the oil pan. | | -
NOTE:Install the oil pan within 10 minutes of applying the silicone sealant and tighten the retaining bolts within a further 5 minutes. Apply a 3 mm bead of sealant to the oil pan. | | -
NOTE:Do not tighten the oil pan retaining bolts at this stage. Install the oil pan. | | -
NOTE:Do not tighten the transaxle lower retaining bolts at this stage. Install the transaxle lower retaining bolts. | | -
Install the engine front cover lower retaining bolts. | | -
Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts in the sequence shown. | | -
Tighten the transaxle lower retaining bolts. | | -
Install the engine support insulator. | | -
Install the oil level indicator tube lower retaining bolt. | | -
Tighten the transaxle left-hand retaining bolts. | | -
Tighten the transaxle right-hand retaining bolts. | | -
Tighten the transaxle upper retaining bolts. | | -
Install the oil level indicator and oil level indicator tube upper retaining bolt. | | -

Connect the battery. For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures). | | -
