Engine - 1.6L Duratorq-TDCi (DV) Diesel - Crankshaft Rear Seal

Special Tool(s)

	Adapter for 303-171 303-172-01
	Adapter for 303-171 303-172-02A
	Adapter for 303-172 (21-102) 303-172-05
	Gauge, Bolt Angle 303-174
	Remover, Crankshaft Seal 303-293
	Installer, Crankshaft Rear Seal 303-738
	Locking Tool, Crankshaft 303-734

Remove the clutch disc and pressure plate.
For additional information, refer to: Clutch Disc and Pressure Plate (308-01 Clutch, Removal and Installation).

2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal Details

CAUTION:Make sure that the special tool engages correctly.

NOTE:Only rotate the crankshaft in the normal direction of rotation.

Using the special tool, lock the flywheel.
- Rotate the crankshaft until the special tool locates into one of the slots in the flywheel.

Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft rear seal.
- Discard the crankshaft rear seal.

Installation Details

NOTE:Install a new crankshaft rear seal.

Position the crankshaft rear seal on the special tool.

NOTE:A new crankshaft rear seal is supplied with an alignment sleeve which must be removed following installation.

Using the special tools, install the crankshaft rear seal.
- Remove and discard the alignment sleeve.

Inspect the flywheel.

NOTE:Install new flywheel retaining bolts.

NOTE:Do not fully tighten the flywheel retaining bolts at this stage.

Install the flywheel retaining bolts.

CAUTION:Make sure that the special tool engages correctly.

NOTE:Only rotate the crankshaft in the normal direction of rotation.

Using the special tool, lock the flywheel.
- Rotate the crankshaft until the special tool locates into one of the slots in the flywheel.

Using the special tool, tighten the flywheel retaining bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in two stages.
- Stage 1: 17 Nm.
- Stage 2: 75 degrees.

Install the clutch disc and pressure plate.
