  1. Remove the clutch disc and pressure plate.
    For additional information, refer to: Clutch Disc and Pressure Plate (308-01 Clutch, Removal and Installation).

2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal Details

Item 1 : Flywheel retaining bolts

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the special tool engages correctly.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Only rotate the crankshaft in the normal direction of rotation.
    Using the special tool, lock the flywheel.
    • Rotate the crankshaft until the special tool locates into one of the slots in the flywheel.

  1. Remove the flywheel retaining bolts.
    • Discard the flywheel retaining bolts.

Item 3 : Crankshaft rear seal

  1. Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft rear seal.
    • Discard the crankshaft rear seal.

  1. Remove the special tool.

Installation Details

Item 3 : Crankshaft rear seal

  1. Install the special tools.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new crankshaft rear seal.
    Position the crankshaft rear seal on the special tool.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:A new crankshaft rear seal is supplied with an alignment sleeve which must be removed following installation.
    Using the special tools, install the crankshaft rear seal.
    • Remove and discard the alignment sleeve.

Item 2 : Flywheel

  1. Inspect the flywheel.
    For additional information, refer to: Flywheel Inspection (303-00 Engine System - General Information, General Procedures).

Item 1 : Flywheel retaining bolts

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new flywheel retaining bolts.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the flywheel retaining bolts at this stage.
    Install the flywheel retaining bolts.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the special tool engages correctly.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Only rotate the crankshaft in the normal direction of rotation.
    Using the special tool, lock the flywheel.
    • Rotate the crankshaft until the special tool locates into one of the slots in the flywheel.

  1. Using the special tool, tighten the flywheel retaining bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts in two stages.
    • Stage 1: 17 Nm.
    • Stage 2: 75 degrees.

  1. Remove the special tool.
  1. Install the clutch disc and pressure plate.
