Steering Column - Steering Wheel Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to Section  501-20A Safety Belt System / 501-20B Supplemental Restraint System.

  1. Center the steering wheel.
    • Remove the ignition key and lock the steering in position.

  1. Remove the steering wheel.
    1. Disconnect the speed control electrical connector (if equipped).
    1. Remove the bolt.

Installation

WARNING:
WARNING:When installing the steering wheel make sure the air bag sliding contact is centralized. For additional information, refer to Section  501-20A Safety Belt System / 501-20B Supplemental Restraint System. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:After installation, check the correct location of the steering wheel on the steering column shaft by turning the steering wheel in a counterclockwise direction.
  1. To Install, reverse the removal procedure.
