Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Remover/Installer, Cooling Hose Clamp 303-397 (24-003)

Removal

  1. Drain the air conditioning (A/C) system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.

  1. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Detach the wiring harness from the radiator crossmember.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the refrigerant lines and the condenser core to prevent dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser core.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the radiator upper coolant hose.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the radiator center coolant hose.

  1. Disconnect the degas coolant hose.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the radiator lower coolant hose.

  1. Remove the radiator undershield.
    • Discard the retaining clips.

  1. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud.
    1. Release the retaining clips.
    1. Push the cooling fan motor and shroud out of the retaining clips and remove it.

  1. Detach the radiator crossmember (right-hand side shown).
    1. Remove the front retaining bolts.
    1. Loosen the rear retaining bolts.

  1. Remove the radiator.
    1. Lift the radiator.
    1. Pull the radiator crossmember to the rear side.
    1. Pull the radiator downwards.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new refrigerant line O-ring seals.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Lubricate the refrigerant line O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil before installation.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new radiator undershield retaining clips.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
