Engine Emission Control - 1.6L Zetec-E (Zetec)/1.8L Zetec-E (Zetec)/2.0L Zetec-E (Zetec) - Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the engine undershield.

  1. Detach the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the PCV valve (catalytic converter removed for clarity).
Vehicles built up to 08/2002
  1. Remove the PCV valve.
Vehicles built 08/2002 onwards
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not pull the PCV valve from the crankcase vent oil separater without first rotating the PCV valve. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the PCV valve.
    Remove the PCV valve.
    1. Rotate the PCV valve counterclockwise.
    1. Pull the PCV valve from the crankcase vent oil separater.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
