Alignment tool, gear lever

1. 

   NOTE:Check that the gearshift lever is in the neutral position.
   Detach the shift lever boot and the trim from the centre console.

2. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

3. Detach the locking insert of the shift/selector cable adjustment mechanism.
   • Push the orange-coloured insert into the adjusting mechanism.

4. Lower the vehicle.

5. 

   NOTE:The special tool is yellow.
   Using the special tool, lock the gearshift lever.
   1. Pull the reverse gear inhibit upwards.
   2. Insert the special tool.

6. Turn the special tool about 45 degrees clockwise, to lock the shift mechanism.

7. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

8. 

   NOTE:The gearshift/selector levers are in neutral when they are in the vertical position.
   Set the gearshift/selector lever in neutral position (shift cables not shown).

9. 

   NOTE:Ensure that the orange-coloured insert returns to the lock position.
   Adjust the shift cable.
   • Push down the clip of the adjusting mechanism.

10. 

    NOTE:Ensure that the orange-coloured insert returns to the lock position.
    Adjust the selector cable.
    • Push down the clip of the adjusting mechanism.

11. Lower the vehicle.

12. Turn the special tool anticlockwise through 45 degrees to unlock the shift mechanism.

13. Remove special tool .

14. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

15. 

    NOTE:Push the locking buttons of the gearshift cables.
    Detach the shift cables from the transmission.
    1. Detach the shift cable from the gearshift ground.
    2. Detach the selector cable from the selector lever.

16. Detach the locking insert of the shift/selector cable adjustment mechanism.

17. Lower the vehicle.

18. 

    NOTE:The special tool is red.
    Using the special tool, lock the gearshift lever.
    1. Pull the reverse gear inhibit upwards.
    2. Insert the special tool.

19. Turn the special tool about 45 degrees clockwise, to lock the shift mechanism.

20. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

21. 

    NOTE:Third gear is engaged when the angle piece runs parallel to the base plate as shown (shift cables not shown).
    Engage third gear.

22. 

    NOTE:The selector cable is marked black.
    Attach the selector cable to the selector lever.
    • Press the locking button.

23. 

    NOTE:Ensure that the orange-coloured insert returns to the lock position.
    Adjust the selector cable.
    • Push the orange-coloured insert into the adjusting mechanism.

24. Move the transmission into neutral.

25. 

    NOTE:The shift cable is marked white.
    Attach the shift cable to the gearshift ground.
    • Press the locking button.

26. 

    NOTE:Ensure that the orange-coloured insert returns to the lock position.
    Adjust the shift cable.
    • Push the orange-coloured insert into the adjusting mechanism.

27. Lower the vehicle.

28. Turn the special tool anticlockwise through 45 degrees to unlock the shift mechanism.

29. Remove special tool .
    1. Pull the reverse gear inhibit upwards.
    2. Detach the special tool.

30. Install the shift lever boot and the trim on the centre console.
