Removal and Installation Removal WARNING:Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with the skin or eyes. If brake fluid contacts the skin or eyes, rinse the affected area immediately with water. Failure to observe these instructions can lead to personal injury. CAUTION:If brake fluid comes into contact with painted surfaces, wash the affected surfaces with water immediately. | -
Bleed the brake fluid reservoir. | | -
Remove the air cleaner (illustration shows 2.0l Zetec-E with MTX 75 transmission). - Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor multiplug.
- Detach the crankcase ventilation hose.
- Disconnect the intake hose.

Detach the central junction box (CJB). - Screw on the left, clip on the right

Remove pipes from clutch master cylinder. - Detach clips.
- Loosen pressure pipe from bracket.

Remove lower instrument panel cover (four screws) and footwell insulation panel (clipped in). | | -
Remove the clutch master cylinder. - Detach the clip.
- Remove the bolts.
- Unclip the clutch master cylinder from the pedal mounting.
- Detach the piston rod from the clutch pedal.

Install the clutch master cylinder. - Attach the piston rod to the clutch pedal.
- Clip the clutch master cylinder into the pedal mounting.
- Insert the clip.
- Tighten the bolts.

Connect the pipes to the clutch master cylinder. - Insert the clips.
- Insert the pressure pipe in the bracket.

Install the lower instrument panel cover (four screws) and footwell insulation panel (clipped in). | | -
Attach the central junction box (CJB). - Screw on the left, clip on the right.

Install the air cleaner. - Attach the intake hose.
- Attach the crankcase ventilation hose.
- Connect the MAF connector
