Air Conditioning - Condenser Core Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The cooling system must not be drained.
    Evacuate the air conditioning (A/C) system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the lower radiator cover.
    • Discard the retaining clips.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Seal off the refrigerant lines and the condenser core to prevent dirt ingress.
    Detach the refrigerant lines from the condenser core.
Vehicles with common rail injection system

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Seal off the refrigerant line and the condenser core to prevent dirt ingress.
    Detach the upper refrigerant line from the condenser core.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Seal off the refrigerant line and the condenser core to prevent dirt ingress.
    Detach the lower refrigerant line from the condenser core.
All vehicles

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Support the radiator crossmember with a transmission jack.
    Remove the radiator crossmember (right-hand side shown).

  1. Remove the condenser core.
    1. Unclip the condenser core (one side shown).
    1. Pull out the condenser to the side.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new refrigerant line O-rings.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the refrigerant line O-rings with clean refrigerant oil before installation.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new lower radiator cover retaining clips.
    Install the components in the reverse order.
