Antenna
The GPS and global system for mobile communications (GSM) functions and AM/FM radio reception all use a common antenna.
GPS antenna - vehicles with telematics
The GPS antenna is located on the cross car beam behind the passenger air bag module (if equipped) under the noise vibration harshness (NVH) material. The GPS antenna is attached to the normal antenna. This type of antenna is fitted only to the navigation system display module when the navigation system is fitted with telematics. The GPS antenna and GPS antenna cable are of a one piece construction and can only be replaced as a complete unit.
The navigation system also receives input signals from the following components:
- The reversing lamp switch
- The anti-lock brake system (ABS) module
Reversing lamp switch
The reversing lamp switch input allows the navigation system display module to determine the vehicle's forward or rearward direction.
ABS module
The ABS module provides information to the navigation system display module to allow the system to determine distance covered. The input is generated from the rear ABS wheel sensors.
