Description and Operation

Hood Mechanism

The hood opens from the front and is secured by means of a double catch in the hood latch.

The hood latch opens from the front by use of the car key. To insert the key in the lock barrel, the Ford Emblem in the front grille must be turned to the left. The safety interlock of the hood latch is also opened by use of the car key. The hood latch is mounted on the GOR (Grill Opening Reinforcement panel).

The hood catch engages around the striker which is secured to the underside of the hood at the front.

Hood Hinges

The two hood hinges form the pivoting point for opening and closing the hood. When opened, the hood should be immobilized with the hood support rod. The hood hinges are each secured to the body and to the hood with two screws.
