Replacement Parts - Apron panel reinforcement
- Side member with fender apron panel
- Left-hand engine mounting reinforcement
| Removal | -
General Notes - The front accessories, seat, crash padding, fenders, hood, hood lock panel and crossmember must be removed.
- Required disassembly operations: Power steering expansion tank, coolant expansion tank, cowl panel cover, bulkhead damping matting and A-pillar trim.
- Move carpets, wiring and hoses out of the working area.

CAUTION:Only mill out two panel thicknesses. Bulkhead | | -
Apron panel - Preliminary cut location at both tabs.

Side member - Mill out the spot welds.
- Mill out the spot welds to a depth of two panels only, using a Ø 10 mm cutter.
| Installation | -
Prepare new side member - Detach front section of side member from complete side member at original joint.

NOTE: On the Focus RS, the suspension strut mountings are strengthened with reinforcement plates. These plates must be replaced during repair. Reinforcement plate for front suspension strut mounting - Align the suspension strut mounting reinforcement plates with the lower reinforcements already installed and weld with an intermittent MIG weld seam.

NOTE: On the Focus RS, the left engine mounting is strengthened with reinforcement plates. These plates must be replaced during repair. Left-hand engine mounting reinforcement plate - Position both engine mounting reinforcement plates in accordance with the original condition and weld with an intermittent MIG weld seam.

Apron panel reinforcement - Before installing, bend tabs outwards by 180°.
