Removal and Installation

    • Quarter panel

Removal

  1. General notes
    • Necessary removal work: Door, front and rear seats, rocker panel inner trim, A and B pillar inner trim.
    • Reposition the carpeting and the wiring harness away from the working area.
NOTE:
NOTE:The location of the separating cut may be changed depending on the extent of the damage. The repair shown only describes a complete replacement in full.

    1. Mill out the spot welds.

    1. Mill out the spot welds.
    1. Grind out the spot welds.

  1. Rocker panel
    1. Grind out the MIG weld seams.
    1. Mill out the spot welds.

  1. Rocker panel
    • Warm the adhesive application area (approx. 170º C).

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Before resistance spot welding of body panels with a total panel thickness of 3 mm and greater, the welding equipment instructions contained in sub-section 501-25 must be followed.

  1. Rocker panel
    • Spot weld backing strips to the cut edge.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not apply any adhesive to the rear rocker panel within 15 to 20 mm below the point of cutting (MIG welding area).
    Rocker panel
    • Before inserting the rocker panel, apply 2-part metal adhesive.

    • Resistance spot weld.

  1. Rocker panel
    • Intermittent MIG weld.

  1. Rocker panel
    • Intermittent MIG seam weld.

    • Continuous MIG weld seam.
