Steering Gear to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Return Line - Vehicles With: Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS) > < Steering Angle Sensor

Removal and Installation

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the engine undershield.
    • Rotate the locking tangs counterclockwise.

  1. Remove the radiator splash shield.

  1. Remove the right-hand front fender splash shield.

5. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Fill and bleed the power steering system. For additional information, refer to: (211-00 Steering System - General Information)
    Power Steering System Filling - 1.6L Duratec-16V (Sigma) (General Procedures),
    Power Steering System Bleeding - 1.6L Duratec-16V (Sigma) (General Procedures).

Removal Details

Item 1 : Steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return line

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return line to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering fluid reservoir to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return line from the power steering fluid reservoir.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

Item 2 : Power steering fluid lines retaining bolt

  1. Disconnect the power steering fluid lines from the steering gear valve body.
    1. Remove the retaining bolt.
    1. Rotate the clamp plate.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

Item 3 : Power steering fluid lines front bracket

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering fluid lines front bracket to aid installation.
    Remove the power steering fluid lines front bracket.
    1. Release the power steering fluid lines front bracket retaining clip.
    1. Remove the power steering fluid lines front bracket retaining bolt.
    1. Remove the power steering fluid lines front bracket.

Item 4 : Power steering fluid lines center bracket

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering fluid lines bracket to aid installation.
    Detach the power steering fluid lines bracket from the vehicle body.

  1. Detach the steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return line from the power steering fluid lines center bracket.
    1. Release the power steering fluid lines center bracket retaining clip.
    1. Open the power steering fluid lines center bracket.

Item 5 : Power steering fluid lines rear bracket

  1. Detach the power steering fluid lines rear bracket from the steering gear.

  1. Remove the steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return line.
    1. Release the power steering fluid lines rear bracket retaining clip.
    1. Open the power steering fluid lines rear bracket.

Installation Details

Item 4 : Power steering fluid lines center bracket

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Make sure the power steering fluid lines are a minimum of 15 mm from the auxiliary drive belts.

Item 3 : Power steering fluid lines front bracket

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Make sure the power steering fluid lines are a minimum of 15 mm from the auxiliary drive belts.

Item 2 : Power steering fluid lines retaining bolt

  1. Connect the power steering fluid lines to the steering gear valve body.
    1. Rotate the clamp plate.
    1. Install the retaining bolt.
