Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE:
NOTE:Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the loadspace trim panels.
    Refer to: Loadspace Trim Panel - Convertible (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

  1. On both sides.

  1. Install a suitable strut to support the luggage compartment lid.
    Torque: 25 Nm

  1. With the aid of another technician, remove the luggage compartment lid.

  1. Position the luggage compartment lid linkages to prevent obstruction of the convertible top assembly.

  1. Torque: 25 Nm

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Make sure that the ignition key is removed.
    Manually release the convertible top.

  1.  
    • Manually open the convertible top to allow access to the convertible top assembly bolts.
    • Position and lock the luggage compartment lid linkages rearwards, to avoid damage when removing the convertible top assembly.

  1. Using the special tools, support the convertible top.
    Special Tool(s): 501-124
  1. Remove the rear quarter trim panels.
    Refer to: Rear Quarter Trim Panel - Convertible (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

  1. On both sides.
    Torque: 25 Nm
  1. Manually close the convertible top.

  1. On both sides.
    Torque: 25 Nm

  1.  
    1. Support the hydraulic pump and lines to prevent damage to the hydraulic system.
    1. With the aid of another four technicians remove the convertible top assembly.
    • Remove the special tools.

Installation
  1.  
    1. Support the hydraulic pump and lines to prevent damage to the hydraulic system.
    1. With the aid of another three technicians locate the front strikers into the front latches.
    1. Lower the convertible top assembly.

  1. Using the locating dowel, locate the convertible top assembly.

  1. Manually close and secure the convertible top.

  1.  
    1. Push down on the convertible top assembly to the design setting.
    1. Make sure the nut and bolt makes contact with the convertible top main linkage to position the convertible top assembly in the design setting.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Align the convertible top assembly.
    Refer to: Convertible Top Alignment (501-18 Convertible Top, General Procedures).
  1.  
    1. Operate the convertible top switch to the down/open position until the convertible top is fully open.
    1. Operate the convertible top switch to the up/closed position until the convertible top is fully closed.
