Removal and Installation

Removal

CAUTION:
CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
  1. Remove the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Section  204-04 Wheels and Tires.

  1. Detach the parking brake cable from the brake caliper.
    1. Pull back the parking brake lever.
    1. Disconnect the cable from the parking brake lever.
    1. Remove the conduit retaining clip.
    1. Detach the cable from the brake caliper.

  1. Loosen the brake hose to caliper union.
    1. Using a suitable brake hose clamp, clamp the brake hose.
    1. Loosen the union.

  1. Detach the brake caliper from the brake anchor plate.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the brake hose to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the caliper from the brake hose.

  1. Remove the brake pads.

  1. Remove the anchor plate.

Installation

  1. Install the anchor plate.

  1. Install the brake pads.
    1. Apply high temperature grease to the brake pad contact points.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the brake hose union at this stage.
    Connect the caliper to the brake hose.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:When the piston is retracted into the housing, brake fluid will be displaced into the brake fluid reservoir.
    Using the special tool, retract the brake caliper piston.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure the brake pad springs are correctly located in the caliper.
    Install the brake caliper.

  1. Tighten the brake hose to caliper union.
    1. Tighten the union.
    1. Remove the clamp.

  1. Attach the parking brake cable.
    1. Position the cable and conduit.
    1. Install the cable retaining clip.
    1. Pull back the parking brake lever.
    1. Attach the cable to the parking brake lever.
  1. Install wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Section  204-04 Wheels and Tires.
  1. Bleed the brake system. For additional information, refer to Section  206-00 Brake System - General Information.
