Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Remover, Oil Cooling Pipe

Removal

  1. Detach the coolant expansion tank from the wheelhouse assembly and position to one side.
    1. Remove the retaining bolt.
    1. Detach the coolant expansion tank.

  1. Detach the power steering fluid reservoir from the wheelhouse assembly.

  1. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooler return line from the power steering fluid reservoir.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Detach the fender splash shield from the radiator splash shield on both sides.

  1. Remove the radiator splash shield.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the O-ring seals are not damaged. If the O-ring seals are damaged install new O-ring seals.
    Disconnect the power steering pump to steering gear pressure line from the power steering fluid cooler.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the power steering fluid cooler line.
    1. Insert the special tool into the quick release coupling.
    1. Slide the special tool along the line to release the locking tangs.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container

  1. Remove the power steering fluid cooler.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
