Removal

  1. Remove the catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Section  309-00 Exhaust System.
  1. Drain the engine.

  1. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:To prevent damage to the sealing surface, only use the special tool shown to remove the oil pan.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Tighten the locknut against the oil pan and tap the special tool several time to release the oil pan from the lower crankcase.
    Using the special tool, remove the oil pan.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not damage the mating faces.
    Clean the mating faces.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Mating faces must be free from oil and sealant residue.
    Clean all traces of oil residue and oil sludge from the oil pan.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The lower crankcase may be damaged if sealant enters the blind holes.
    Install ten M6 x 20 mm studs into the blind holes shown (engine shown removed for clarity).

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Attach the oil pan within ten minutes of applying the sealant.
    Apply a 3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the mating face of the oil pan.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The oil pan must not be removed once it comes into contact with the lower crankcase housing.
    Attach the oil pan to the lower crankcase housing.
    • Remove the studs.
  1. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.
    • Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts in the sequence shown in two stages.
    • Stage 1: 6 Nm
    • Stage 2: 10 Nm
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Inspect the oil drain plug and gasket. Install a new oil drain plug and gasket if necessary.
    Install the oil pan drain plug.
  1. Install the catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Section  309-00 Exhaust System.
  1. Fill the engine with engine oil .
