Remove the head restraint inserts. | | | -
Remove the backrest lumbar support adjust handwheel (if equipped). | | | -
Detach the backrest cover from the underside of the backrest. - Detach the retaining strip.

Detach the backrest release lever cables from the base of the backrest. - Detach the outer cables from the backrest frame.
- Detach the inner cables from the release catch.

Detach the backrest release inner cable from the release lever. - Lift the backrest release lever.
- Detach the cable.

Detach the backrest release lever housing from the backrest. - Using a suitable screwdriver, depress the locking tang.
- Detach the housing.

Remove the backrest release lever housing. - Detach the release lever outer cable from the housing
| | | -
Remove the backrest release lever trim panel. | | | -
Remove the backrest cover. - Roll the backrest cover up the backrest.
- Detach the hook loop tape.

Remove the seat backrest pad. | | | -
Remove the head restraint. | | | -
Remove the head restraint guides. - Using a suitable screwdriver, depress the locking tang.

Install the head restraint guides. | | | -
Install the head restraint. | | | -
Install the seat backrest pad. | | | -
NOTE:If a new backrest foam pad is being installed, the foam pad must be cut to facilitate the installation of the release lever mechanism. Using the release lever trim panel as a template, cut the backrest foam pad to fit around the top inner edge of the trim panel. | | | -
Install the backrest release lever trim panel. | | | -
Install the backrest cover. - Attach the hook loop tape.
- Roll the backrest cover down the backrest.

CAUTION:Cut a minimum of 15 mm away from any seam. NOTE:If a new backrest cover is being installed, the cover must be cut to facilitate the installation of the release lever mechanism. Using the release lever trim panel as a template, cut the backrest cover to fit around the top inner edge of the trim panel. | | | -
Install the backrest cover over the release lever trim panel. | | | -
Install the release lever outer cable into the release lever housing. | | | -
Install the backrest release lever housing | | | -
Install the backrest release lever inner cable. | | | -
Attach the backrest release lever cables to the base of the backrest. - Attach the inner cable to the release catch.
- Attach the outer cable to the backrest frame.
