In-vehicle Repair

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the engine undershield (two nuts and four bolts).

  1. Disconnect the exhaust downpipe from the exhaust manifold.
    • Discard the gasket.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Remove the exhaust heat shield.

  1. Remove the oil level indicator and tube.

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold.
    • Discard the gaskets.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new exhaust manifold gaskets and a new exhaust downpipe gasket.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
