Removal

  1. Remove the camshafts.
    For additional information, refer to Camshaft in this section.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Keep the hydraulic tappets in order for installation.
    Remove the hydraulic tappets.
  1. Install the special tools.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Feed the timing chain while rotating the engine.
    Manually rotate the engine until the piston of the cylinder being worked on is at bottum dead center (BDC).
  1. Using the special tool, apply compressed air to the cylinder (7-10 bar).

  1. Using a suitable brass punch, loosen the valve collets.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not damage the valve stem when pressing down the valve spring retainer.
    Using the special tools, remove the valve collets.
  1. Remove the valve spring and the valve spring retainer.

  1. Using the special tool, remove the valve stem seal.
    • Discard the valve stem seal.

Installation

  1. Push the valve stem mounting sleeve over the valve collet groove (valve shown removed for clarity).

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new valve stem seal.
    Using the special tool, install the valve stem seal.
  1. Remove the valve stem mounting sleeve.
  1. Install the valve spring and the valve spring retainer.

  1. Using the special tools, install the valve collets.
  1. Using a suitable brass drift, seat the valve collets.
  1. Repeat the previous steps to remove and install the other valve seals.
  1. Remove the special tools.
  1. Remove the special tool and the compressed air supply line.
  1. Coat the hydraulic tappets with engine oil.

  1. Install the hydraulic tappets in the location from wich they was removed.
  1. Install the camshafts.
