Air Conditioning - Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor—2.0L/2.3L Galaxy 2000.75 (04/2000-02/2006)
Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Drain the air conditioning system.
    For additional information, refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).
  1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
    For additional information, refer to: Accessory Drive Belt - 2.0L/2.3L (303-05 Accessory Drive, Removal and Installation).

  1. Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch electrical connector.
Vehicles built up to 08/2002

  1. Remove the refrigerant line cover plate and detach the refrigerant line from the support bracket.
    1. Remove the refrigerant line cover plate retaining bolts.
    1. Remove the refrigerant line support bracket retaining bolt.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the refrigerant lines and the A/C compressor to prevent dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the A/C compressor.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
Vehicles built 08/2002 onwards

  1. Remove the power steering line support bracket retaining bolt.
    • Pull the power steering line to the side.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the refrigerant lines and the A/C compressor to prevent dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the A/C compressor.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
All vehicles

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Support the A/C compressor before removing the retaining bolts.
    Remove the A/C compressor.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new refrigerant line O-ring seals.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the refrigerant line O-ring seals in clean refrigerant oil prior to installation.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
