Parking Brake Cable Replacement - 206 Brake System

Parking Brake and Actuation - Parking Brake Cable Ikon 1999 (01/2000-)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the parking brake control cover trim.

  1. Lower the parking brake control lever and loosen the adjusting nut.
  1. Loosen the rear wheel nuts.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.
  1. Remove the wheel.

  1. Detach the exhaust system from the rear hanger insulators.

  1. Remove the exhaust system heat shield center section and detach the rear section.

  1. Disconnect the equalizer from the front parking brake cable.
    • Turn the front parking brake cable nipple through 90 degrees.

  1. Disconnect the rear parking brake cable.

  1. Detach the rear parking brake cable.

  1. Detach the parking brake cable from the rear axle (both sides).
  1. Remove the brake drum. For additional information, refer to Section  206-02 Drum Brake.

  1. Detach the parking brake cable.
    1. Pull the secondary brake shoe lever backwards.
    1. Disconnect the cable from the secondary brake shoe.

Installation
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Adjust the parking brake.
