Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Remove the stoplamp switch.

  1. Disengage the clutch pedal return spring.

  1. Remove the brake pedal.
    1. Remove the brake pedal cross-shaft retaining clip (clutch side).
    1. Push the brake pedal cross-shaft towards the brake pedal.
    1. Remove the brake pedal cross-shaft retaining clip (brake side).
    1. Push the brake pedal cross-shaft towards the clutch and remove the brake pedal.

  1. Remove the brake pedal bushings.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:When Installing the brake pedal make sure the brake booster actuator rod locates correctly into the brake pedal.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:As the brake pedal cross-shaft has to be disturbed, check and adjustment of the clutch pedal travel will be required. For vehicles built up to 08/1997 the measurement between the pedal stop and the adjuster bolt must be 49.5 mm. For vehicles 08/1997 onwards the measurement must be 56.0 mm
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
