| Description and Operation The design of the rear axle twist beam has been revised to improve the inherent anti-roll stiffness. This has allowed the the rear spring rate to be reduced improving the ride without compromising the vehicle handling. The top mounts of the rear suspension units have been redesigned and incorporate a single nut top mount fixing. Suspension loads are now transferred to the body structure separately from the suspension unit fixing, effectively providing a dual path mounting system that improves isolation and provides a more refined ride quality. Revisions to the rear axle twist beam bush design provide a self stabilising effect by allowing small dynamic changes to the toe settings under cornering loads. The compliance designed into the trailing arm pivot bushes allows a small degree of passive toe steer when the outside trailing arm, in a turn, is deflected by the lateral roll forces. This reduces the slip angle of the tyre improving grip and providing a more positive turn-in effect. | Item | Description | | 1 | Mounting brackets | | 2 | Hub and drum assemblies | | 3 | Suspension unit | | 4 | Rear axle twist beam | |
