Engine Cooling - 1.3L Duratec-8V (Rocam)/1.6L Duratec-8V (Rocam) - Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud Ka 1997 (09/1996-)
Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Section  303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering.
  1. Disconnect the battery positive cable.

  1. Remove the battery.

  1. Loosen the cooling fan motor and shroud left-hand side retaining nut.

  1. Loosen the cooling fan motor and shroud right-hand side retaining nut.

  1. Disconnect the cooling fan motor electrical connector.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Disconnect the cooling fan motor resistor electrical connector.
Vehicles with power steering
  1. Detach the power assisted steering lines support brackets.
All vehicles
  1. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud.
    1. Push the cooling fan motor and shroud upwards.
    1. Push the cooling fan motor and shroud towards the engine, to detach the clips and then lower.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
