WARNING:

This modification is authorized only for the listed engines. Performing this modification on other engine calibrations is unauthorized and
could create liability under applicable federal or local laws.

When normal diagnostic procedures do not indicate the cause of the subject drive concerns, install a 1986 processor.

1.

Perform applicable diagnostic procedures to identify any components that are causing the concerns. Refer to Volume H in the Shop Manual.

2.

If no components are identified as the cause, replace the processor assembly with the 1986 design level. For 49 state applications, install processor
E63Z-12A650-AA and for California, install E63Z-12A650-BA.

3.

Set the initial timing to 10~ BTDC.

NOTE:

Once the processor has been replaced with a 1986 level, the 1986 Diagnostic Procedures must be used on the vehicle.

Authorized Modification Decal

Obtain an Authorized Modification Decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place
adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modification Decal. Clean the area, install the
decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
