could create liability under applicable federal or local laws.
Engine cold knock during the first mile of operation is a nondestructive piston slap noise caused by cold start spark advance to improve cold driveaway.
Service by installing a new processor and setting initial timing to 10~ BTDC.
1.
Check the initial timing and set to 10~ BTDC.
2.
Replace the EEC processor with E53Z-12A650- ANB (49 State) or E53Z-12650-APB (California).
3.
Install a Ford Authorized Modification Decal denoting the changes.
Authorized Modifications decal
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to
the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it
with a clear plastic decal shield.
