Removal

  1. General Notes.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Do not damage the cylinder head mating face.
    • Support the cylinder head with clean wooden blocks on the workbench.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Correct angle between special tool 21-155-02 and cylinder head.
    Attach the special tool.
    1. Undo the camshaft bearing cap bolts with the 15 mm spacers.
    1. Special tool original bolt.

  1. Release the valve spring retainers with a single sideways tap.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Store all the parts in the order in which they were removed.
    Remove the valve springs.
    • Support the valve in the combustion chamber with a wooden or plastic block.
    1. Compress the valve springs.
    1. Remove the valve collets.
    • Release the valve spring and remove the valve spring retainer and valve spring.

  1. Remove the valve stem seal.
    1. Press the valve stem oil seal special tool into place.
    1. Turn and pull out the valve stem oil seal special tool.
  1. Remove the valve.

  1. Remove the valve stem oil seal from the special tool.

Installation
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:New valve stem seals must be fitted each time the valves are removed and installed.
    Valve stem seal installation sleeve.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The valve stem seals are pressed in by the pressure of the valve spring.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Use the valve stem seal installation sleeve.
    Fit the valve stem seals and valves.
    • Slide the valve stem seals onto the valve stem remove the installation sleeve from the valve stem.
    1. Fit the valve spring in place with the valve spring retainer and compress.
    1. Fit the valve collets.
  1. Lubricate the hydraulic tappet with engine oil and fit it.
