Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures
    • Make a note of the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the pre-set radio stations.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Disconnect the battery ground lead.
    Remove the upper intake manifold.
    For additional information, refer to Intake Manifold - Upper - Removal and Installation in this section.

  1. Remove the intake manifold runner control actuator (IMRC).
    • Unclip the wiring harness bracket.

  1. Pull the HT leads off the spark plugs and the injector wiring rail from the front engine mounting bracket.

  1. Unclip the coolant hose and the wiring harness.
    1. Unclip from the bracket.
    1. Pull the coolant hose bracket from the stud on the left-hand cylinder head cover.
    1. Wiring harness (three clips)

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Loosening sequence
    Remove the cylinder head cover.
    • Remove the gasket.

Installation

  1. Clean the mating face with a cloth.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Fit the cylinder head cover with a new gasket within four minutes of applying the sealer. Before fitting the cylinder head cover apply a drop of sealer approximately 8 mm in diameter to each of the joins shown.
    Install the cylinder head cover using a new gasket.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Tightening sequence.
    Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts.

  1. Clip the wiring harness and coolant hose to the left-hand cylinder head cover.
    1. Wiring harness (three clips)
    1. Push the coolant hose bracket onto the stud on the left-hand cylinder head cover.
    1. Clip into the bracket.

  1. Push the HT leads onto the spark plugs and the HT leads wiring rail onto the front engine mounting bracket.

  1. Install the IMRC actuator.
    • Clip the wiring harness bracket in place.
  1. Install the upper part of the intake manifold.
    For additional information, refer to Intake Manifold - Upper - Removal and Installation in this section.
  1. Standard finishing operations
    • Connect the battery ground lead.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogram the pre-set radio stations.
    • Reset the clock.
