Disconnect the transaxle electrical connector. - Detach the ground cable from the transaxle case.
- Disconnect the solenoid body electrical connector.
- Disconnect the transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the wiring harness retaining clip.

Detach the selector lever cable assembnly from the transaxle. - Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolts.
- Detach the selector lever cable from the selector lever.
| Vehicles with air conditioning | -
CAUTION:Do not place excessive pressure on air conditioning (AC) tubes or hoses and fittings when disconnecting and reconnecting AC components. Excessive pressure may cause component damage and AC system leaks. NOTE:On some vehicles, it may be necessary to disconnect and position the AC suction accumulator to one side to allow sufficient access for main control cover removal. Detach the suction accumulator from the carrier. - Detach the suction accumulator bracket from the carrier and position the to one side.
- Loosen the suction accumulator canister retaining bolt, and detach the suction accumulator from the bracket.

NOTE:Place a suitable container under the main control cover. Detach the transaxle cooler inlet line from the transaxle. | | -
NOTE:Remove the bolts in the indicated sequence. Remove the main control cover. - Clamp and disconnect the main control cover vent tube.
- Remove the main control cover bolts.

Remove the main control cover gasket. | Installation All Vehicles | -
NOTE:Install a new main control cover gasket. Install the gasket on the main control cover, before positioning in place. | | -
NOTE:Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown. Install the main control cover. - Connect the main control cover vent tube and release the clamp.

Attach the transaxle cooler inlet line to the transaxle. | Vehicles with air conditioning | -

Excessive pressure may cause component damage and AC system leaks. Install the suction accumulator. - Attach the suction accumulator canister to the bracket and tighten the retaining bolt.
- Attach the suction accumulator bracket to the carrier.

Attach the selector lever cable to the transaxle. - Attach the selector lever cable to the selector lever.
- Install the selector lever bracket retaining bolts.

Connect the transaxle electrical connectors. - Install the ground cable.
- Connect the solenoid body electrical connector.
- Connect the TR sensor electrical connector.
- Install the wiring harness clip.
