Removal and Installation Removal | -
Standard preparatory measures: - Make a note of the radio keycode.
- Make a note of the pre-set radio stations.
| CAUTION:Disconnect the battery ground lead. | -
Detach the engine undershield (nine bolts). | | -
Detach the lower wheel arch cover. | | -
Detach the shift cable and the selector cable from the gear shift lever and the gear selector lever on the transmission. - Remove the shift cable from the abutment bracket by twisting the abutment bracket counter-clockwise, and pull it downwards out of the engine compartment.

Move the selector lever and the gear shift lever on the transmission to "neutral" (both levers should be vertical). | | -
Remove the air cleaner. - Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) multiplug.
- Undo the hose clip.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose.
- Unhook the rubber retainer.

Remove the selector cable. - Remove the selector cable from the abutment bracket by twisting the abutment bracket counter-clockwise, and pull it downwards out of the engine compartment.

Screw off the gear lever knob, and unclip and remove the boot. | | -
Open the ashtray and pull it out. | | -
Detach the center console at the front. | | -
Detach the center console at the front (continued). - Remove the screws on both sides (left-hand side shown).
- Remove both front trim panels.
- Disconnect the plug from the cigar lighter.

Detach the side cover from the air conditioning/heater housing. - Take off the screw caps and remove the two screws on each side (left-hand side shown).

Remove the center console. - Tighten the hand brake cable.
- Pull the center console backwards.
- Pull the center console together with the boot over the parking brake lever and lift it out.

Detach the shift cable and the selector cable from the gear lever. - Remove the cables by twisting the abutment bracket counter-clockwise.

Remove the bolt and push the air duct upwards. | | -
Cut the carpet and fold it over to one side. | | -
Detach the selector and shift cable bush and slide it out from inside the passenger compartment. | Installation | -
Refit the components in the reverse order. | | -
Standard finishing operations: - Connect the battery ground cable.
- Reprogram the pre-set radio stations.
- Carry out a road test to enable the PCM to gather data.
