Air Conditioning - Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor—1.8L Diesel Mondeo 1997 (08/1996-09/2000)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Drain the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.

  1. Disconnect the connector from the A/C compressor clutch.
  1. Remove the A/C compressor drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.

  1. Detach the engine undershield (if equipped).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Close off the refrigerant lines and the A/C compressor to prevent contamination.
    Detach the refrigerant lines from the A/C compressor.
    • Discard the O-rings.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Support the A/C compressor before unscrewing the bolts.
    Remove the A/C compressor.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new O-rings on the refrigerant lines.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the O-rings for the refrigerant lines with clean refrigerant oil prior to installation.
    Refit the components in reverse order.
