Generator and Regulator - Generator—1.8L Diesel, Vehicles With: Auxiliary Heater Mondeo 1997 (08/1996-09/2000)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the charge air cooler. For additional information, refer to Section  303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering.
  1. Loosen the right-hand front road wheel.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.
  1. Remove the right-hand front road wheel.

  1. Remove the engine undershield.
    1. Remove the clips.
    1. Remove the bolts.

  1. Remove the fuel fired heater exhaust securing bolts.

  1. Remove the wheelhouse lower liner.
  1. Remove the generator drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.

  1. Remove the generator lower mounting bolt.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Disconnect the fuel fired heater electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the fuel supply pipe.

  1. Detach the fuel fired heater and move to one side.

  1. Disconnect the generator wiring.

  1. Remove the generator rear and upper securing bolts.

  1. Remove the generator.

Installation
  1. Install the components in reverse order.
