Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Remove the door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section  501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not touch the adhesive surface as rebonding will be impaired. Do not attempt to peel the watershield from the door without cutting the Butyl strips.
    Locally detach the door watershield.
    • Using a plastic knife, cut through the Butyl strips to enable the watershield to be detached.

  1. Remove the door remote control handle.
    1. Remove the retaining screws.
    1. Pry the handle housing from the door.

  1. Disconnect the handle illumination electrical connectors.

  1. Disconnect the door latch electrical connector.

  1. Remove the door latch barrel shield retaining screw.

  1. Remove the outer bezel.

  1. Remove the door latch retaining screws.

  1. Remove the door latch barrel shield.

  1. Detach the door latch barrel actuator rod.

  1. Detach the door handle.

  1. Remove the door handle.
    1. Rotate the handle through 90 degrees.
    1. Remove the actuator rod from the latch lever.

  1. Remove the remote handle cable.
    1. Detach the outer cable.
    1. Rotate the cable to remove.

Installation
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
