Revised wheel bearings are installed on vehicles with 2.5L Duratec VE and 2.0L Duratorq TDCi engines equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission to match the reinforced driveshafts.
The outer diameter is 83 mm (75 mm on other vehicle variants), the internal diameter is 47 mm (40 mm on other vehicle variants). The thickness of the wheel bearings (37 mm) has remained unchanged on all other vehicle variants.
The steering knuckle and the wheel hub have been reinforced. In addition, a snap ring is also installed to fix the wheel bearing in place.
This is necessary to counteract the increased forces arising as a result of the increased torque of the engine and the increased weight of the automatic transmission.
