Mondeo 2001 (10.2000-02.2007)

Engine - 2.5L Duratec-VE (VE6) - Upper Intake Manifold Mondeo 2001 (10/2000-02/2007)
In-vehicle Repair

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

  1. Disconnect the air intake hose from the upper intake manifold.
    • Detach the hose clamp.

  1. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum pipe from the upper intake manifold.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable.
    • Detach the clips and the accelerator cable from the bracket.

  1. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve from the upper intake manifold.
    1. Disconnect the EGR valve vacuum hose.
    1. Remove the bolts.
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.

  1. Disconnect the electronic vacuum regulator (EVR) solenoid electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the EVR vacuum hose.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Remove the upper intake manifold retaining bolts in the sequence shown.
    Remove the upper intake manifold.
    • Discard the gaskets.

Installation
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure insulating bushes are on the upper intake manifold retaining bolts.
    Install the upper intake manifold with new gaskets.
    • Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

  1. Connect the EVR vacuum hose.

  1. Connect the EVR solenoid electrical connector.

  1. Connect the PCV hose.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new gasket gasket.
    Install the EGR valve to the upper intake manifold.
    1. Install the retaining bolts.
    1. Connect the EGR valve vacuum hose.

  1. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.

  1. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.

  1. Attach the accelerator cable.
    • Attach the clips and accelerator cable to the bracket.

  1. Connect the brake booster vacuum pipe.

  1. Connect the air intake hose to the upper intake manifold.
    • Attach the hose clamp.
  1. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
