In-vehicle Repair Removal All vehicles | -
Remove the left-hand front scuff plate trim panel. | Vehicles built up to 06/2002 | -
Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to: Instrument Panel (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation). | | -
Detach the central junction box (CJB) from the A-pillar and position it to one side. | | -
Remove the defroster duct. | | -
Disconnect the temperature blend door and the air distribution blend door actuator electrical connectors. - Detach the wiring harness from the air distribution.

Disconnect the blower motor and blower motor resistor electrical connectors. | | -
Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector. | | -
Disconnect the air bag control module electrical connectors. - Detach the wiring harness from the transmission selector lever.

Disconnect the audio unit electrical connector. | | -
Detach the telematics control module from the in-vehicle crossbeam (if equipped). - Detach the clamp from the in-vehicle crossbeam.

Disconnect the auto-dimming interior mirror and interior lamp electrical connectors. | | -
Remove the in-vehicle crossbeam. - Detach the wiring harness from the in-vehicle crossbeam.

Disconnect the transmission control module (TCM) electrical connectors. - Detach the insulation pad from the A-pillar.
| Vehicles built 06/2002 onwards | -
Detach the instrument panel lower panel from the instrument panel. - Remove the retaining screws.
- Detach the retaining clips.

Detach the electronic automated temperature control (ATC) sensor from the instrument panel lower panel (if equipped). - Remove the instrument panel lower panel.

Remove the insulation pad (if equipped). | | -
Detach the central junction box (CJB) from the A-pillar and position it to one side (instrument panel shown removed for clarity). | | -
Disconnect the transmission control module (TCM) electrical connectors (instrument panel shown removed for clarity). - Detach the insulation pad from the A-pillar.

Remove the TCM (instrument panel shown removed for clarity). | Installation | -
CAUTION:Make sure that the correct transmission control module (TCM) is installed or irregular driving conditions may occur. NOTE:All TCM's must be installed using the correct screws, which are supplied in service. To install, reverse the removal procedure. | |
