Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Shift the selector lever to the "D" (DRIVE) position.

  1. Remove the selector lever adapter ring.

  1. Remove the selector lever trim panel.
  1. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Section  501-12 Instrument Panel and Console.

  1. Detach the selector lever cable retaining clip from the selector lever.

  1. Remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever.
    • Pull the retaining pin and push out the selector lever cable.

  1. Detach the selector lever cable retaining clip from the selector lever.

  1. Disconnect the selector lever electrical connector.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.
Vehicles with 2.5L engine
  1. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield.
    • Detach the catalyst monitor sensor wiring harness.
Vehicles with diesel engine
  1. Remove the insulation pad.
All vehicles
  1. Remove the selector lever retaining nuts.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Remove the selector lever.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Adjust the selector lever cable. For additional information, refer to Section  307-05A Automatic Transmission/Transaxle External Controls / 307-05B Automatic Transmission/Transaxle External Controls.
