Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation) / Jacking (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation). | | -
Coat the input shaft splines with a thin coating of grease. | | -
Install the transmission upper bolts. | | -
Remove the securing straps. | | -
Remove the transmission jack. | | -
Install the left-hand transmission bolts. - Install the engine-side bolt.
- Install the transmission-side bolts.

Install the transmission lower bolts. | | -
Install the right-hand transmission bolts. | | -
Attach the ground cable to the transmission. | | -
Install the rear engine mounting bracket. | | -
Raise the engine / transmission assembly using the special tools. | | -
NOTE:Install new rear engine mount retaining nuts. NOTE:Do not tighten the rear engine mounting retaining nuts for the moment. Install the rear engine mount. | | -
Remove the special tools. | | -
NOTE:When installing a new transmission abutment, attach the gearshift cables. Attach the gearshift cables to the transmission. - Attach the gearshift cables to the abutment.
- Attach the gearshift and selector cables to the selector mechanism.

Adjust the gearshift cables. For additional information, refer to: Gearshift Cable Adjustment - Vehicles With: MMT6/6-Speed Manual Transaxle (308-00 Manual Transmission/Transaxle and Clutch - General Information, General Procedures). | | -
CAUTION:If brake fluid comes into contact with the paintwork, rinse off the affected areas with cold water without delay. Attach the clutch slave cylinder pipe to the clutch slave cylinder. - Attach the clutch slave cylinder pipe to the bracket.

Bleed the clutch system. For additional information, refer to: Clutch System Bleeding (308-00 Manual Transmission/Transaxle and Clutch - General Information, General Procedures). | | -
Attach the reversing lamp switch connector. | | -
Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation) / Jacking (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation). | | -
Install the starter motor. - Tighten the starter motor bracket bolt.
- Attach wiring harness to starter motor.

Tighten the starter motor bolts. | | -
Attach the wiring harness bracket to the engine. | | -
Connect the oil pressure switch connector. | | -
CAUTION:The inner constant velocity joint must not be bent by more than 18 degrees. The outer constant velocity joint must not be bent by more than 45 degrees. CAUTION:Ensure that the halfshaft oil seal is not damaged. CAUTION:Ensure that the snap ring is correctly located in the groove. NOTE:Install a new snap-ring. Attach the left-hand halfshaft to the transmission. - Remove the special tools before completely installing the transmission.

CAUTION:The inner constant velocity joint must not be bent by more than 18 degrees. The outer constant velocity joint must not be bent by more than 45 degrees. CAUTION:Ensure that the halfshaft oil seal is not damaged. Attach the right-hand halfshaft to the transmission together with the intermediate shaft. - Remove the special tools before completely installing the transmission.

NOTE:Install a new intermediate shaft center bearing cap and self-locking nuts. Install the intermediate shaft centre bearing cap. | | -
Install the auxiliary drive belt cover. | | -
Install the subframe. For additional information, refer to: Subframe (502-00 Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System, Removal and Installation). | | -
Tighten the rear engine mount nuts. | | -
Tighten the strut top mount nuts on both sides. | | -
Install the strut top mount reinforcement cover. | | -
Detach the engine lifting eye from the generator bracket. | | -
Install the air cleaner. - Connect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.
- Attach the air cleaner to engine intake hose clamp.

Install the engine cover. | | -
Install the PCV hose and vacuum hose on the engine cover. | | -
Check the transmission fluid level and top up with transmission fluid if necessary. For additional information, refer to: Fill Procedure (308-03B Manual Transmission/Transaxle - Vehicles With: 6-Speed Manual Transmission (MMT6), General Procedures). | | -
Connect the battery ground lead. For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures). | | -
