Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Refer to: Nockenwellendichtring (303-01 Motor - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (Sigma), Removal and Installation).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Note the position of each component before removal.

Installation
  1. Torque: 21 Nm

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The component must be installed within 5 minutes of applying the sealant.
    Apply sealant to the VVT (variable valve timing) bridge (bead diameter: 2 mm).
    Material: Sealant - Loctite 518

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the camshafts and camshaft bearing caps are installed in their original locations.
    Apply clean engine oil to the bearing surfaces of the camshaft bearing caps and the VVT bridge.
    Material: Engine Oil - 5W-30
  1. Install the camshafts approximately at valve overlap position cylinder No. 4.
  1.  
    • Tighten the bolts evenly, half a turn at a time, until the camshaft bearing caps and the VVT bridge sit tightly against the cylinder head.
    • Bolts 1 - 16
      Torque: 7 Nm
    • Bolts 17 - 20
      Torque: 10 Nm
    • Bolts 1-16
      Torque: 45°
    • Bolts 17+19
      Torque: 70°
    • Bolts 18+20
      Torque: 53°
  1. Refer to: Ventilspiel einstellen (303-01 Motor - 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (Sigma), General Procedures).
